About Navy League Cadets
The Navy League Cadet program aims to help young Canadians, ages 9 to 12 years old, learn life skills including citizenship, teamwork and leadership. Our programming is designed to help youth become more aware of the world around them, become self-sufficient and confident in their own skills. Throughout their training, Navy League Cadets learn what good leadership looks like, how to work together, and how to overcome challenges. Youth leave the program with a genuine interest in their community’s well-being and equipped with skills to become active citizens.
Exciting Opportunities
Navy League Cadets learn many skills through fun activities, which vary depending on region. These activities can include: Sailing, Camping, Swimming, Music, Sports, Parades, First-Aid, Water Safety, Communications, and Trips. With such a wide variety of activities, you will be sure to find something for you!
Time Commitment
Most corps (pronounced “core” – that’s what we call each group) meet one evening each week from September to June. Some corps host occasional weekend activities or trips, as well.
Program Cost
The cost of joining the program varies depending on the corps and the activities they offer. To help make the program accessible to all, cadets and their parents are required to participate in fundraising activities. Cadet uniforms are provided by The Navy League of Canada. Cadets are required to maintain their uniforms and return them when they leave the program
